West Bengal State University, Barasat (WBSUB) started its Academic Session in 2008-09.

About 57 colleges formerly belonging to Calcutta University were transferred to it after establishment.

The Campus of the University is now being constructed at Berunanpukuria and the University operates fully from there. All the 30 PG course classes would be held there.
