FRI University is the first and only university of the country administrating research dedicated exclusively to Forestry, the University aims at spreading the fruits of research and higher education in the forestry sector to the young students through post graduation and diplomas in forestry and allied sciences.

Objectives of FRI University:

• Impart education in different branches of forestry and environment.
• Provide for research and advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the field of forestry and environment.
• Create consciousness about forest and environment among people through forestry extension programmes.
• Carry out such other activities as may be necessary and desirable to further the safeguarding of environment and protection of forests and wildlife.

Courses Offered by FRI University:

1. M.Sc. Forestry

Duration: 2Years

Eligibility: B.Sc. with at least one of the subjects Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology or B.Sc. Agriculture or Forestry.

2. M. Sc. Environment Management

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: B.Sc. with at least one of the subjects – Botany, Zoology, Environment or B.Sc. Forestry or Agriculture or BE Environment Science.

3. M.Sc. Wood Science & Technology:

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or B.Sc. Forestry.

4. Post Master’s Diploma in Natural Resource Management

Duration: 1 Years

Eligibility: M.Sc. in any discipline preferably any of the Life Sciences subjects at graduation level.

5. Post Master’s Diploma in Non wood Forest Products

Duration: 1 Years

Eligibility: M.Sc. in and one of the subjects Botany, Zoology, Forestry and Chemistry.

6. Post Graduate Diploma in Pulp & Paper Technology

Duration: 1 Years

Eligibility: B.Sc. with Chemistry

Admission Procedure:

Admission to M. Sc. (Forestry) is made through an entrance test. The notification for entrance test will be published in the selected leading newspapers including the Employment News in the month of January and the test is held in the month of May. Candidates are selected in order of merit on the basis of multiple choice objective type written test held at number of centres.
