IGNOU: Courses om Agriculture and Food Security

IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) plans to start special courses on sustainable agriculture and food security exclusively for north-eastern India. A national centre for open and distance learning in research and training in agriculture was set up in Agartala last November for this purpose.
The new courses will be conducted in English and local languages. They include
1. horticulture nursery management
2. honey production and processing
3. value addition in fruits and vegetables
4. bio-fertiliser and bio-pesticides production
5. livestock production and management
6. fish production and management
7. mushroom production and marketing
8. production and marketing of turmeric and orchids
9. pig farming and production
10. value addition to the famous chillies of the region
