HRD Ministry submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court yesterday (Jan 18 2010) saying that 44 deemed universities should be de-recognised and lose their Deemed University Status. The expert committee on deemed universities recommended that out of a total of 126 Deemed Universities, 38 universities were found OK, 44 others have been given three years to improve their functioning and the remaining 44 have been found to be ineligible.

Christ University, Bangalore (Earlier known as Christ College) was established on July 15, 1969. Christ College was upgraded to the status of Deemed University on July 22, 2008.

Download Syllabus, Sample Papers, Results for West Bengal State University, Barasat (WBSUB). It was started its Academic Session in 2008-09. About 57 colleges formerly belonging to Calcutta University were transferred to it after establishment.

Chaudhary Charan Singh (CCS) University, Meerut (formerly Meerut University), was established in 1966 at Uttar Pradesh. It was later renamed to its current name after Chaudhary Charan Singh, former Prime minister of India.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University was first established as the Hyderabad Polytechnic Institute. It was renamed in 1972. It is focuses on engineering courses at the Undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral Level in a wide variety of fields. JNTU has campuses in the districts of Kakinada and Anantapur in the Hyderabad.
